Uncirculated New Release Comics – Grading Disclaimer

Newly released comics often arrive with minor manufacturing or handling imperfections that can place them below a Near Mint grade—even when they are fresh from the distributor and carefully handled by our team. Unless otherwise noted, comics listed as “New” are expected to fall within the Near Mint to Fine (NM–FN) range, which is the condition range publishers and distributors consider undamaged and sellable.

Stuff Your Mom Hates does not guarantee any specific comic book grade and does not subscribe to or operate under the standards of the comic grading industry (including third-party grading services). All books are sold as collectible reading copies, not as certified investment-grade items.

In some cases, an entire print run may be affected by widespread printing or production defects. When this occurs and most copies are likely to fall into the Very Fine to Fine (VF–FN) range.

As a retailer, we sell the comics we receive from publishers, distributors and third party's. Distributor standards for “damage” are far lower than the expectations of collectors seeking strictly Near Mint or higher copies.

Common factors that may reduce a book’s grade below Near Mint include minor spine ticks, edge wear, denting, or cover dimpling. Many modern comics—particularly some titles from Marvel—use lightweight cover stock similar to interior pages, which makes them more susceptible to these imperfections during printing, binding, and distribution.
